Description
A clarinet designed to grow with the player.

Leblanc LB210 Bliss Bb Clarinet with Grenadilla Wood Body
The LeBlanc LB210 Bliss Bb Clarinet is a collaborative effort between young clarinet virtuoso Julian Bliss and famed innovator Morrie Backun. Bliss clarinets feature a bore that requires less air pressure but allows for incredible versatility, control, and playability. The model LB210 is a full grenadilla instrument with Backun-designed ringless barrel and bell. This creates a warm, full sound with a quick response and a focused tone. Protected by a mid-sized backpack style case, this instrument is the perfect step-up for all clarinetists.

A unique visual feature of the Bliss clarinets is the optional black-nickel keys and pads. They give the clarinet a refined look and are tarnish resistant which will keep the clarinet looking great.

You won't find a better made or better playing instrument for the price. Every Bliss/Backun clarinet is made in the US to incredibly precise standards and has the same even tone and response you would expect from a clarinet 3 or 4 times the price. Plus the instrument is BEAUTIFUL. I've played this instrument, the hybrid (plastic body/wood barrel) and the all plastic model. The tone is similar across the whole line; build quality and mechanism are the same. Tremendous value!

I saw Julian Bliss and Mr. Backun at TMEA promoting this clarinet. I was hesitant at first, but when I looked up closely, this clarinet has many features that my $5,000 Rossi clarinet has. I tried the horn and I was considerable better in tune than a Buffet E-11. Point by point, the Bliss clarinet was a better instrument. I currently recommend this instrument to all my beginning students. It is like the iMac of clarinets. It just works out of the box!

I've owned an LB210 (wood) for around one year. I love the horn and, with a Backun MoBa barrel upgrade, I'm getting the sound I prefer (the barrel that came with the horn was a little bright to my ear). In it's price range, in my opinion, the LB210 has no peer. Now, here's the "know this" part: If you buy the LB210, go to Leblancs website and read, and follow, the break-in instructions carefully. In my experience (and others you can find by searching the internet), when the horn is new, it is very susceptible to the wood swelling, which causes the joints to bind, making it very hard to disassemble.

"A Real Clarinet"

In a brief trial of the Bliss I was surprised and pleased to find that even the all-plastic model played and responded like a real clarinet, not like a "student" instrument. Keys felt great; easy response; the tone had body to it. Further, I have to admit that - even as an adult - I really liked the slick look of the black nickel keys. Highly recommended for any student!

I sold my highschool clarinet in the 70's. Many years later I had the opportunity to play in a community band. So I purchased a referbished clarinet in an antique store. Early spring I purchased my Leblanc Bliss Clarinet. I now play in two community bands and in church. This instrument delivers the rich warm clear tone that I was never before able to achieve. The price was in my budget and it was made in the USA. The beautiful wood grain coupled with the nickel keys, set this instrument apart. It is an honor and a blessing to have this new friend with me when I am playing, Thank you Leblanc for the Bliss Bb Clarinet.
