Comments about Legere Reeds Studio Cut Alto Saxophone Reed:

Compared with 3.0 cane, Legere 2.75 requires too much effort for daily use. I expected same or less effort than cane.

Comments about Legere Reeds Studio Cut Alto Saxophone Reed:

I bought two legere reeds, one for my jazz mouthpiece and one for my classical setup. I LOVE the reed on my jazz setup it plays better than cane in my opinion but not a fan of them for classical just yet.

        Alto Clarinet

Comments about Legere Reeds Studio Cut Alto Saxophone Reed:

I love my Legere plastic reeds! I play lots of shows and they last along time. You are able to project your sound rather well. Tone is pretty good. Not as good as a reed. But is still pretty good! They are well worth the money you spend! This is a good cross for an Alto Clarinet.

        Perfect for the Pit

Comments about Legere Reeds Studio Cut Alto Saxophone Reed:

I recently ordered Legere reeds for clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, and tenor sax. They performed beautifully for my theater gig. Doubling on all these instruments, I was concerned that cane would dry before I had a chance to play certain horns. With the Legere reeds this was not a problem; pick up the horn and start playing. I would suggest for folks using Vandoren cane reeds (I typically use "ZZ"s) order at least 1/4 strength HARDER that your usual reed. These reeds feel great in playing situations from pit orchestra and big band to rock and blues.

        Not just for Jazz

Comments about Legere Reeds Studio Cut Alto Saxophone Reed:

Although the description states that this reed is primarily suited to Jazz playing, I would disagree. I play this reed in a 3 1/4 strength on a Vandoren A28 with an Optimum ligature and it sounds and performs terrifically. I personally think the regular cut reeds are too thick and stiff in the tip and don't have the same type of response as a cane reed, but the Studio Cut is thinner and more flexible (as they say it is) and responds to virtually anything. It allows me to play extreme dynamics, which is a necessity in contemporary classical music, without worrying about how the reed will respond today or if it will be different tomorrow.
