Legere Signature Series Alto Saxophone ReedLégère now offers Signature Series technology for alto sax. These reeds follow the spectacular success of Légère's Signature Series clarinet reeds, which have been hailed as a breakthrough in synthetic reeds. Signature Series are very playable reeds with a respond nearly identically to cane reeds. They are very natural sounding, well balanced, and very consistent. Signature Series alto sax reeds will not warp and are available in strengths 2 - 3.5.

I got this reed for my daughter because of a cane allergy. She has a great sound on it and is able to play without the lip and skin irritation she was dealing with before.
I have been using the Legere Signature series on my alto for the last 8-12 months or so. I've played saxophone for about the last 15 years or so, and I was so tired of buying 10 "regular" reeds, and having only 3-4 per box that actually worked well, but wouldn't last very long. This reed is perfect - works 100% of the time, and doesn't need to be "moistened" prior to playing. Just pop it on the mouthpiece, tighten the ligature, and you're good to go! No one has been able to tell the difference in the tone between these reeds and regular reeds. I've found the size 3.25 to be adequate for my wind ensemble playing (Sousa, Holst, Holsinger, etc).
A bit on the pricy side, but for me it's worth it to have that consistency (I've been playing on this one reed for at least 8 months - just about to order my second reed). I would also like to note that the bass clarinet and tenor sax players in my band use these as well, and we have all been happy with them. Highly recommend!
I've been playing sax for 20 years. The older I've gotten, the worse my allergy to bamboo reeds has gotten. I needed something synthetic so that I could keep playing. I have tried Fibracell (good), Bari (ick), WWBW brand (ok), but so far, Legere Signature Series Reeds are the best. These reeds are fantastic. I get the same "reedy" warmth that I look for in bamboo reeds. They last a very long time, no adjustments needed. These reeds allow me to keep playing and enjoy it.
I have tried nearly all the vandoren reeds out there, and am tired of constantly buying reeds that don't work half the time. These reeds have a great tone perfect for ensembles compared to the studio cut legeres, which have a buzz. I usually use Vandoren strength 3 reeds, and I have a strength 3 legere, however, the legere is a bit on the soft side. The legeres are typically a bit on the softer side than the Vandorens, but they have a great exchange policy. Overall, a great reed that lasts as long as it costs.
