I just bought one of these in Australia (for a lot more money) and love it! No rubbing, soaking, break in or fussing. I'm told it will soften slightly. But I will be buying more of these. The sound is great though I will be interested in how much variation in tone there is between reeds. The only thing I don't like is that they are a bit slippery and my embrochure slips a bit on the reed when I'm playing fast passages.
Serious clarinetists and teachers really need to give this new Signature in the Legere line a try. It is responsive stone cold. No preparation needed. I play 3.5 in most cane reed lines and personally found the 3.5 in the Signature to be a little soft for the altissimo. Per the Legere guarantee, I sent back my 3.5 to the company (Legere) in exchange for a 3.75.
The sound quality is virtually equal to that of the best cane reeds. The response is excellent.
My students will be trying out the Signature and the Quebec models in hopes that, at least for marching season, they can count on a reed that will perform under any variety of conditions.
I've tried many of the different cuts of the Legere clarinet reeds including the Ontario , but the signature is the most free blowing and responsive synthetic reed I've ever played. It's ideal for doubling because it plays so well cold.
