This is a very expensive reed and I had not tried one before. I won't try another one any time soon. The reed was only minimally responsive with at best a muted, muddy tone. My expectations for a reed that costs this much run pretty high. This one was very disappointing. I'll stick with cane or Fibracell reeds for now.
Ive been using this reed to gig and for high school marching band, i tend to play hard so it took a while to find the right size but the reeds are great, i used a 3 at first and it would go out on me pretty quick and i moved up to a 3.25 and it would last longer about a month or so and im now using a 3.5 and it is perfect for about 3 months and it pays for itself over and over again. GREATTT REEEED
I've been playing with a Legere for about 4 years in a Swing Band. I know I can count on my reed to play at any time. I hate fooling with wood reeds, so the Legere really works for me. I play on a 2 1/2. The sound is warm. It lasts about 6 months, that's rehearsing 1.5 hours a week, plus practice and gigs) It tends to get a little "muddy" when it's wearing out, so I like to keep a back up. I'm going to try the WW plastic reed to compare.
