Auditioned this mouthpiece (E2) along with a Hite J, Vandoren B45, M13, Lomax Symphony Med Med, Bay artist, H2, Dan Johnston J, and Borbeck #14. Played all these mouthpieces through a R-13 vintage and a Selmer Signature. This Lomax is really good! Good for a variety of styles from classical to jazz. I slapped a pretty stiff reeds 4 and 4.5s on this bad boy, and the Lomax Symphony took it like it was nothing without sounding overly stuffy. Tone can get a little bright as is typical with a free blowing mouthpiece like this, but is much warmer in the midrange than any of the above mouthpieces, except the Johnston. Bottom end was robust and triumphant. What a great all around mouthpiece. Beats the heck out of the Lomax E2..
