I have been using and abusing my Manhasset Voyager Tote on a weekly basis for a couple of years. It is not showing signs of wear. I find it wonderful to be able to put my music and flute and piccolo stands in the case. When I arrive at my destination and return home, they are easily accessible. Perhaps the new bags are better constructed as I have friends who have had a negative experience with older bags.
My first Manhasset tote bag slowly deteriorated over a period of years. The stand pole poked a hole in the end of the bag; the strap broke; the zipper broke. I held everything together with duct tape until I got sick of not having a working zipper. So, it wasn't the sturdiest product I'd ever purchased, but on the other hand, I'd asked it to do more than it was intended for. In addition to my Manhasset stand, I usually stuffed the bag with a big pile of music, some clips and a light, and a double saxophone stand. That's a lot of weight. Anyway, I'm happy to report that my newly purchased replacement tote bag is about 1.5 inches longer than the original! I compared the new one with the old one (before I threw it away) -- no doubt about it. That should help protect the end of the bag, and the zipper, from being pierced by the stand pole. The carrying strap is also nicely adjustable. The old bag would have rated two or three stars -- fragile, but accommodating. The new, bigger bag holds all my stuff with more room to spare, so four stars.
Some have used this custom bag for 3 years, I used my first one for EIGHT, and always liked how I can put the double sax stand in there too. But it is so maddening that this fancy "custom" bag is not quite long enough to fit the stand pole, Why not _1/2"_ longer on bottom?! The first bag was lost on the road, and now I have another gripe with the latest version, What good is a shoulder strap this short?! For some reason Manhasset took 2 Feet off the length of the "shoulder strap," making it impossible to carry on your shoulder--especially with two sax cases on my neck. So, In 8 years they haven't figured out the length doesn't really fit the stand, and then ruined the strap by making it 1/3 of the old length. If I hadn't lost the old one, I'd be having the old strap sewed on the brand new bag.
I have been using the Manhasset Voyager music stand for 3 years. I purchased it from WWBW along with the Voyager tote. The tote lasted about 1 year before the edge of the tripod wore a hole in the end of the bag. I called Manhasset and they sent me another bag at no charge. Well, I am now on my third replacement bag and it also has a hole from the tripod. It needs a rubber cover over the tripod attachment end that is uncovered metal to solve this problem. The Manhasset Voyager music stand is a 5 star rating, but the tote is not very good.
I have been using this case for at least three years on a weekly basis. It is very difficult to fit the stand into the bag properly and get the bag closed. It can really only go one way, but it's not obvious which way that is, so it takes a lot of thrashing around to get it in there. And the fit is so tight that it puts a strain on the zipper (mine has started to give way). The material is thin as well. A large sturdy tote bag actually works better, but I am very disappointed, as I am already hauling around a tote bag for my instrument and music. This was supposed to make things easier and it doesn't.
