Everything works properly, except for, when you turn it, it makes clicking sound, but we don't know why. Other than that, it is very nice and solid.
Manhasset stands are simply the best. After growing up with these stands in our middle and high school bands, I bought one for at home.
Well made and sturdy this stand is a joy to use. After my flimsy folding Hamilton stand kept collapsing under the weight of my music I knew it was time to invest in a decent stand.
Have had this stand for several years now and added the floor protectors.
A must have for any musician.
I decided that my wire stand was too flimsy and weak for long-term use, and I looked for some Wenger stands (these are the ones we have at our school, and they are amazing - but unfortunately they aren't sold anywhere except for the retail stores, where shipping is expensive) but couldn't find any. Because I needed to use a WWBW gift card, I bought this stand instead. The stand is well made and sturdy, but note that the desk is made of a thin metal, less than 1/8 inch thick. This isn't a problem for me, since I don't move the desk constantly up and down. If you keep it in one place, this thickness is great. The height of the stand is ideal - it is around 2.5 ft at its lowest and it reaches over 5 ft. Overall, this is a quality product - and like others commented, I think it will last a long time. :)
You don't have a Manhasset MH-48? Get one. You'll keep it for life, because it lasts that long. I teach in two schools and the majority of our music stands are Manhassets built BEFORE 1970 (when the bottom collar design changed). The only times we need to buy new ones is if our program grows and we need more, or if inferior stands from other manufacturers give up the ghost. I only specify Manhasset stands at my schools. The only thing I wish were better about these stands was that the paint finish would be a little less prone to scratching.
Stand arrived in perfect condition. Low cost. Sets up and adjustment of height is very nice. Stand seems perfect in just about all ways. (I really like the stand.)
So what?s not to like?
I bought this to use in my home. I planned on using this in my formal living room that has a very nice wooden floor. (Same room as a grand piano.)
It?s not clear from the pictures or the description that there are no feet or any type of rubber, or plastic on the legs to prevent scratching of what ever floor you place this music stand on.
The legs are just bent metal. One of the three legs has edges pointed and sharp enough to cut your hand if you are not careful. It would definitely scratch a wooden floor.
The other two legs are sharp as well but not quite as bad.
As long as you don?t have to worry about scratching your floor this stand will most likely be fine for you.
Now I have to find a way to make sure the next stand I order will work with a finely finished wooden floor.
