Manhasset M48 Symphony Music Stand for Students

You don't have a Manhasset MH-48? Get one. You'll keep it for life, because it lasts that long. I teach in two schools and the majority of our music stands are Manhassets built BEFORE 1970 (when the bottom collar design changed). The only times we need to buy new ones is if our program grows and we need more, or if inferior stands from other manufacturers give up the ghost. I only specify Manhasset stands at my schools. The only thing I wish were better about these stands was that the paint finish would be a little less prone to scratching.

Manhasset is the best brand I've ever worked with, it is in all of our schools and I can see why. These things are sturdy and light weight; the kids lean all over them and they still don't break-worst case senerio is they become wobblely but then all you have to do is tighten the bolt in the bottom and it's good as new! When I went to our Regional Honor Orchestra they had some other brand of stand and they were clunky and difficult to adjust. I've never run into a Manhasset that is difficult to adjust and if you do happen to stumble upon one there are bolts you can adjust to fix it. These stands are also conviniently large desk, on this particular stand you can fit about 3 pages with no worry about whether they'll fall off or not. I recomend these stands to schools or anyone who wants more bang for their buck.

The Manhassett stand is one of the best music stands available. Have worked with these stands since childhood and they have always been durable and solid. In my experience these stands are the pick of most schools and music groups.

I've tried other stands thinking they might be just a little better in some respect, but there are some things that are standards for a reason. This is the standard. You may like some other stand also, but you won't regret getting one of these.

I decided that my wire stand was too flimsy and weak for long-term use, and I looked for some Wenger stands (these are the ones we have at our school, and they are amazing - but unfortunately they aren't sold anywhere except for the retail stores, where shipping is expensive) but couldn't find any. Because I needed to use a WWBW gift card, I bought this stand instead. The stand is well made and sturdy, but note that the desk is made of a thin metal, less than 1/8 inch thick. This isn't a problem for me, since I don't move the desk constantly up and down. If you keep it in one place, this thickness is great. The height of the stand is ideal - it is around 2.5 ft at its lowest and it reaches over 5 ft. Overall, this is a quality product - and like others commented, I think it will last a long time. :)
