Marcinkiewicz Tuba Mouthpieces

Marcinkiewicz Tuba Mouthpieces
Cup Selection
The standard tuba mouthpieces are arranged in a logical ascending order from deep to shallow and wide to narrow in three different types; N, W, & H. Please note that the chart is grouped in sections according to type. This arrangement permits players to select a mouthpiece by precise increments of depth to find the correct cup volume required by their musical needs.Rim Selection
'N' mouthpieces have a narrow rim, 'W' pieces have a wider rim and 'H' pieces have a smaller inside bite. The ST3 and ST4, with shallower cups, are designed specifically for students. (It doesn't have to hurt to play!)Comparison Notes
Models given for comparison again reflect standard sizes. These are not copies; substantial changes and improvements have been made to increase playability and response.

I own a Miraphone 1290 CC tuba and had been playing a Conn Helleberg 120S and had been having problems with articulation and tone focus. I tried a Tommy Johnson N4 and I noticed a more focused sound and much crisper articulation. I played on it for a few hours today and I noticed I had more control through my fatigued face.

I've owned this mouthpiece for about 3 months now, and I can't say I love it. Pros: Large cup, gives off a big(ger) sound. Articulation is smooth and easy, easier than most other beginner-intermediate mouthpieces I've played on (such as helleberg, bach). Feels very comfortable on the mouth. Cons: The range is terrible. Pedals are weak, and for me, brought down my regular high range (around F above the staff), to around Bb. Overall I would recommend this to a middle school player looking for something other than a Helleberg.

"Good articulation, lacks in flexability"

(24AW) The first thing I noticed with this mouthpiece is its big comfortable rim. I can play on it for hours with little fatigue on my chops. The articulation on the mouthpiece is pretty good. It's probably just a little tiny bit better than my Perantucci pt-44 (great all-around mouthpiece. I use it for everything and it works great). On the other hand, the flexibility of it isn't that admirable which is why I would recommend this mouthpiece to a beginner-intermediate level player. But I hear a lot of great things about Marcinkiewicz's ProLine Concert Hall mouthpieces for those of you feel that your an advanced player. Anyway, it?s an ok mouthpiece; I would recommend that you try it out.
