I have been extremely happy with this instrument. Right after getting it, I had the opportunity to play several new Loree EH's, and I really believe the Marigaux is better than those two that I played. The stock bocals are OK, but the instrument is greatly improved with a Dallas Bocal by Steve Lickman. This corrects the "sagging" middle B and C, which are inherent in the stock bocals. The first one I got actually had a much more gorgeous tone than the second one, but it still sounds great and the wood is super-fine, NOT at all grainy. All in all, a GREAT English Horn for the money. I've been very pleased with it, and ALWAYS get compliments on it when I play it.
After trying several leading brand EHs, I finally settled on the Marigaux. Combined with a Lickman bocal and German reed, the instrument produces heavenly deep, rich, mysteriously dark sounds that will haunt you forever! There is simply nothing like a Marigaux - gorgeous instruments!
