Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Martin D-15 Dreadnought

With its mahogany construction and simple appointments, the D-15 is reminiscent of the Style 15 guitars of the 1940s and marks the reintroduction of mahogany top guitars to our product line. It is the lowest priced Martin guitar currently available and offers exceptional tone.

The D-15 features solid genuine mahogany for the top, back, sides, and neck; a soundboard trimmed with a single-banded gold herringbone decal rosette; and a tortoise colored pickguard. Carefully hand-selected tonewoods, master craftsmanship and beautiful finishes and styles make Martin acoustics a class all their own, and must be played to be believed.

Everyone from Eric Clapton to Sting to Johnny Lang has played a Martin guitar, and professionals and amateurs alike know the bright sparkle and deep, resonant tone that Martin guitars have become famous for, from the most high end acoustics to the Backpacker.

The D-15 has a real smooth, warm tone that fills a room. It has the classic Martin resonant low-end that I love. Plus, it's just simply a beautiful guitar and only gets better with age. The only downside is the action is a little stiff. If you are wanting something to fly up and down the neck on, this might not be your guitar. But, if you're looking for a guitar with a booming, warm sound, this is your guitar.

I have owned this guitar for 7 years, and it just keeps getting better. Taylor guitars seem to be way too bright, and Gibson acoustics always seem a little too boom-y. Martin always gets just the right mix. This guitar is unique within the Martin line because it has that Mahogany top, which makes it a little more mellow sounding than the usual spruce-topped guitars. I get compliments on the tone of this instrument ALL the time. Also, this is the least expensive Martin that you can get that is made of solid wood (not laminate). This guitar is also very beautiful. It has the vibe of an old blues guitar with the simple satin finish. I really can't say enough positive things about this guitar. It sounds fantastic, it looks great...heck, it even SMELLS good! If you want a fantastic, solid acoustic but don't have 2 grand to put down for it, you can't go wrong with this one!

Martin builds such a nice guitar, and this all solid mahogany D-15 is no exception - even though the price isn't high end. It has the big sound you'd expect from a Martin dread, nice bass, and great sustain. It just really rings. Not everyone loves the look, but I think it's a real classic - simple but beautiful brown wood with the satin finish. Comes with an excellent Martin case for when you take it on the road - and you'll want it with you everywhere! Highly recommended!
