The tuner isn't calibrated properly and there's no way to adjust it -- so it's a tuner that's just a bit off from 440. Heck, I could get that close with my ears. Also, the cord between the clip and the tuner is too short so you have to sit really close to a table while trying to bow. AND the darned thing is so slippery it's always sliding off the table. It's almost impossible to read while it's laying down because the meter is buried -- so you have to prop it up against something while you're tuning, but between it being so light and slippery and that short little cord it just keeps falling over. Granted, it's not very expensive, but it shouldn't even be sold as a tuner because it's unusable.
This is my absolute favorite tuner for my violin students. It is the least confusing to use especially for beginners because there are only 5 pitches it will tune, one for each of the 4 strings of your stringed instrument. Once you understand it, it is the easiest to use. If it is too high, the guage shows it, and you need to losen the fine tuners to bring it down to the right pitch. It is so easy to use. In a noisy crowd during performances, the clip will allow you to tune it without all the other outside noisy pitches interfering. I love it. It is NOT for a guitar, but for violin, viola, cello and bass only. The other tuners confuse the violin students because there are too many pitches (all the pitches on the piano) and it will not tell what octave you are in.
