Comments about Meinl Setup Tambourine with Brass Jingles:
I own both versions of this tamborine. The mounted and the handheld. The mounted Tam has a very big sound. It's perfect for striking when mounted. I also tend to remove the bolts on the mount and use it as a hand held tam. It has a great sound and is easily controlled. However, it is really heavy. The handheld tam with the aluminum jingles is super comfortable, extremely light and easy to control. Although it doesn't sound like your run-of-the-mill tamborine, its sound is thin and fragile. I use this mainly for playing with my left hand while playing congas at the same time. Its great for this because of its lightness. If I am playing just the tam though I will opt for another instrument with brass jingles.
