Meyer G Series Tenor Sax MouthpieceThe goal of the new "G" series is to reproduce the size and style of chamber and tip opening that allows the unique sound of great saxophonists of the past. 'G' is available in three different tip openings: 5,6, or 7.

I bought this because, well, finding a mouthpiece that was dark enough for playing in small rooms quietly has meant a constant search. This is my "new mouthpiece of choice." It is the first one I've found that lets me do that 'Stan Getz whispered tone' with ease, and also allows for that 'rich Dexter Gordon' type of sound. My only reservation - it is harder to get upper range harmonics. I suspect a 6 might be better (I bought a 5) because of the extra tip opening that would allow a bit more pressure before closing off. Otherwise, this is an awesome mouthpiece!
I bought this looking for a darker and mellow sound that my E. Rousseau wouldn't produce, even after trying for months to get it.The moment I put this on my horn and played I realized that this was the mouthpiece sound I was looking for.You guys know that we saxophonist are very picky about our gear, so I'd say - try it! and then make your own conclusions, however, this is a great mouthpiece, I would buy another one without even trying it first.
After being "sax-less" for over 40 years I am, at 70, re-learning on an old beat-up 1967 Conn 10M. After a week using a BRILHART EBOLIN 4C I switched to this new MEYER G #6. WOW! A previous review states "it is hard to get upper range harmonics." That has not been a problem with my #6 and a 2 1/2(2 hard) inexpensive Rico reed. It works well high and low and I can use a quieter touch on the low notes. Note that the add picture is apparently not the "G". I am both pleased and encouraged.
