Miraphone 1292 New Yorker Series 5-Valve 5/4 CC TubaThe 1292 is similar to the Miraphone 1291 with the addition of a bell garland to increase the dynamic potential of the instrument and a slightly smaller mouthpipe which tightens it up ever so slightly. This horn is very similar to Alan Baers personal instrument.

Great sounding horn, a few intonation issues to work around, but overall, I love it.
this horn is awesome! it plays really smoothly very easy to play.
This is not an instrument for the meak or timid. I popped a helleberg into this thing, grabbed it, and played one note, and fell in love. This instrument produces a monstrous sound if a little air is put into it. Phenomenal, clean yet round tone. The best instrument I've played.
For anyone who is serious about playing, they must purchase a horn that does absolutely nothing to hinder them and this instrument is ideal for that purpose. This horn is made for the professional, but is easily played by a student. It offers a huge bore which is great for a large beautiful tone and ease of lower notes. Many friends have played my horn and have remarked on several factors they are jealous of. The low E below the staff is incredibly easy to pop and make ring, something that is difficult on most tubas. Also, the fifth valve trigger has a very low range of motion that makes it very easy to engage fully when you need it, no worrying about if you can reach it. As a bonus to the way the horn is constructed (out of thin metal compared to most German horns that are made from thick) it is light, easy for younger players to manage. Finally, the horn is very natural to hold. After figuring out what position works best, it lies very naturally in the lap at good height, depending on how far on your knees you position it, so there it no need for a stand.
