Comments about Miraphone 186 Series Rotary Valve CC Tuba:
PLayed this tuba recently from a friend of mine. He owns the 5 valve model. Although he rarely uses the 5th valve it sounded like a good idea to him at the time. Now to the very basics! Regardless of how many valves you get this is a beautiful instrument! The construction is top rate, the brass is medium guage not too thin not too thick. The ressonance is amazing and the ease of playing this large tuba was very easy even for a tuba amatuer like myself. It can play good at low volumes for practice, and really blast without breaking up. Compared to his heavier Yamaha 641 BBb Tuba this one just sounds less dark and has more character. It also slots the notes easier as well. It is plenty big and rich to fill a large hall, however in an orchestra I would find it strained. Great buy and good resale.
