Miraphone MI57F Contrabass TromboneThis is the biggest slide trombone available commercially today. The fundamental pitch is the same as that found on a BBb tuba. It has a very deep voice that will blend beautifully with the rest of the section without distorting. The F attachment takes it down a fourth to the low F on the BBb tuba.

I dont even know how to describe this instrument. It is an absolutely amazing piece of art. I've always been a large fan of miraphone but they have truly outdone themselves with this one!!!!
I moved from a Jupiter 740 RL Bass Trombone to this beast, what a sound! I find the timbre very complex and interesting, the sound has "body" all the way through the range of the horn, not just the lower registers, I tried the factory mouthpiece, not good, I am a Tuba player also, so I tested my other mouthpieces, the G&W Diablo sounded amazing, and still can produce that bright trombone "Edge" if needed. I did a lot of research on the Miraphone, agreeing with what others have said, this contrabass takes a lot of air, I just returned from the Moravian Easter morning tour, I had played some pedal F's in some of the chorales, I had to top off just to sustain 8 beats! As far as ergonomics, this CBT is great, I had no trouble holding it through a long gig, I used to have more trouble with my Jupiter, and that had an extra rest for the left hand. It will only get better as I get used to the instrument. The workmanship is what you would expect from Miraphone.
This is a great instrument.
