"consistent quality: every reed plays"

I throughout high school and college, I played on Vandoren 5's. However, I was frustrated with finding that perfect reed that would play. It seemed that in a box, two were awesome; half were o.k. and half I had to work on to play o.k. After college and having a family, I just didn't have the time to work on reeds. I found Mitchell Lurie through trial and error. Although Mitchell Lurie is a softer reed, I found that 9 out of 10 reeds played great! I haven't turned back yet. Since I don't practice the hours and hours that I needed to in college, I have gone down a strength and found that 4's are just right.

Nearly every reed works great right out of the box. Keep one of these with you and play them on short notice- they don't take much breaking in. They are relatively soft, so move up a half of a size. For this price, the consistency is unrivaled.
