Morgan HR Jazz Tenor Saxophone MouthpieceThese Morgan jazz tenor saxophone mouthpieces are made from the finest pure hard rubber. The mouthpiece rubber's formulation is exclusive to the Morgan Company and is the same formula used by the top mouthpiece makers in the 1920s–1950s, with no synthetic additives. The Morgan Jazz Model Mouthpieces are traditional-style standard mouthpieces with round chambers and low rollover baffles. These are made to reflect the styles of popular traditional mouthpieces from the 1940s – 1960s. This model is made of an exclusive pure 100% hard rubber formula. The mouthpiece castings are created exclusively for the Morgan Company using Morgan tooling. The castings are then completely finished by hand to exact specifications. These are available in Medium (M), Medium-Large (ML), Med-Large/Large (MLL) and Large(L) chamber sizes. I use my Morgan 8E HR tenor mouthpiece on all of my gigs, whether I'm playing jazz, salsa, or pop.
The mouthpiece allows me to get the warm sound I strive for with free blowing ease. It feels as easy in the low register as it does in the mid and high registers, and I find that my altissimo pops out more smoothly on this mouthpiece than any other.
The rounded chamber and high baffle give me the amount of projection I need for louder horn sections, but the large chamber gives me the resistance and round tone I need for jazz playing.
I highly recommend the Morgan 8E HR tenor sax mouthpiece for anyone who wants a lot of control in addition to a warm, dark tone.
I started looking into a new mouthpiece for two reasons, i got a new cannonball saxophone and the mouthpiece i was playing did not feel comfortable. I switched to the Morgan from a Guardala. Initially i did not like the Morgan, but this was because of the reeds, i needed softer reeds. After that, the mouthpiece played like i had it my whole life. It fits perfectly with many genres. It gives you a nice compact tone that is very strong and bendable. This is and excellent mouthpiece for my cannonball.
