Easel part is only 17" wide by 11" high, but it's about as big as you'd want to carry around all the time, vs. the full-size and full-weight regular stands. A good compromise with maximum stability and extends to a decent height. (I am 6' and I don't have to extend it all the way.) Way better than the open folding kind we've had around for forty years...

The Musician's Gear music stand arrived in the time promised and it is exactly what I hoped it would be: heavy duty, light weight and easy to carry.

I bought this stand only a few months ago and it has had VERY light duty, just used a few times and that mostly at home. A plastic expansion ring broke and fell out and now it it impossible to adjust and tighten the stand. It won't hold even a book or two without sliding down to its lowest height. It is also not very portable and really awkward to take anywhere as the table has to be removed and then reattached (which is difficult). It is cheap for a reason. I couldn't recommend it to anyone, especially if you are going to haul it anywhere.

Very sturdy, light-weight, and adjustable. I especially like the fact that you can adjust the tilt of the stand, not just the height. Very much worth the money!!

"Not as portable as implied by its description"

This stand is quite awkward to carry around. The legs do indeed fold up along side the shaft, but these measure at least 27 inches in length. The easel must be unbolted and carried separately. Then to set up the stand, you must unfold the legs, place the stand on its legs, and bolt the easel to the top of the shaft. The bolt is rather small and I imagine it would be easy to lose it. So take extra care to store it where you can retrieve it.
