Why Woodwind & Brasswind ?
Expert Advice Price Guarantee HACKER SAFE certified sites prevent over 99.9% of hacker crime.

These 6 piece kits contain two pieces of 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" tuning slide tube designed to reduce or eliminate the gap in the tuning slide created when the slide is pulled out to tune. The selected lengths are inserted ahead of the tuning slide to create an uninterrupted tube from mouthpiece to valve cluster to greatly reduce back pressure and create better intonation, freer blowing and improved slotting in all registers. Inserts can be removed easily with the use of a cleaning snake.

A safe bet to improve your Bach

I've been using these inserts for about a week in my Bach 25/72. They opened up the blow a little, and left intonation relatively unaffected. The thing that really stuck out to me was the ease with which I was able to produce a big, centered sound in all registers. This was not something I noticed all at once, rather it dawned on me as I realized how much more relaxed my playing felt after a few hours of practice. Also, for you highnote lovers - the wall between high G# and high A was gone. My overall range was pretty much unaffected, but that bit of smoothing over in the upper register was a nice treat. I found the sameresults with my Bach C trumpet. I was lucky enough to find the right combination of inserts in the set to use in both horns at the same time. For fifty bucks, these are probably one of the cheapest ways you can really improve your instrument. The only downside is that they take away a little of the flexibility of your sound (if you close both gaps completely - you can fine tune them to balance between performance and sound).

Didn't Know My Bach Strad Could Sound So Good!

I received a Custom Tuning Slide Inserts kit from Victor Burguess for my Bb Bach Strad (Model 37 ML bore) in the mail recently and had the opportunity to play test these with my instructor on Friday. I didn’t think something so simple in concept would make such a difference in the sound, but I was literally shocked at the transformation. I explained the concept of the insert design to my instructor (i.e. elimination of the gap between the leadpipe and tuning slide when it is extended leading to less turbulence in the flow). I told him that I would like to get his impressions of the sound from across the room. I played a series of scales and arpeggios without the inserts and then with the inserts. After talking about his comments and removing the inserts I had him play my horn while I stood on the other side of the room. The results were unanimous. This product clearly targets the quality of the tone produced on the horn. Without the inserts, my sound has a lot of core and quite a bit of periphery. After installing the inserts the core quality of my sound remained and the periphery was almost completely gone! The clarity and brilliance of the sound took on a completely different character. This was a color change that I didn’t think was possible with such a small change to the instrument. The best way to describe this sound transformation in words (for me) would be like comparing a great cornet sound to a great trumpet sound. I do all of my maintenance work on my Bb trumpet and play my C trumpet in all of my ensembles. I just prefer the sound of my C trumpet with its clarity and presence (and great intonation). With the inserts in place in my Bb, the sound moved more in the direction of my C trumpet sound. It had more brilliance and simply more trumpet content in the core. The associated clarity in the sound allows me to hear myself much better behind the bell. There’s just more zing to what I’m hearing! The intonation also appeared to be improved. I would consider playing my Bb in my ensembles now that it matches the sound that I’m hearing in my head! Victor’s conception of such a simple product is amazing in the results that it produces. Bravo! Getting this sound with much less effort will cert
