"Great Jazz Mouthpiece!"

I bought this mouthpiece to use with my Yamaha 475 tenor sax to use in my middle school jazz ensemble. It makes a really great tone! Otto Link has really recaptured the sound of vintage jazz saxophonists. With a Vandoren JAVA 2.5 reed, it can add a little bit of edge to the sound. I would highly reccomend this piece to any jazz, blues, or rock saxophonist who wants an awesome vintage sound. -Eric

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT REED KIND! Every Mouthpiece, regardless of make and model, has its required reed for optimal performance and sound. Its not a matter of looking for a mouthpiece for your reed. I tried an Otto Link HR 7*, This one works great with a filed reed sucha as Rico Jazz Select 3S. Beautiful sound and projection. Not as Dark as tjhe OL Vintage Metal because it has a slight roll over Baffle at the beggining of the tip opening.

This is an amazing mouthpiece. I bought a 7* and it projects. I can play altissimo very easily and it is easy to play. No resistance. I played a La Voz medium. It can have a little edge too. I can't put my horn down now because it makes playing more enjoyable.

All I can say is wow! For the money, the best piece I've played. It's fat, warm, edgy, rich with lots of color. In a word, it's complex. I have the vintage Link metal and this one blows it away. I have the 7* and I've tried a lot of reed combos with it but my fave is a Java Red 3 or a V16 3 1/2 filed down to about a 3 (the filing gives it a lot of edge). Use the Francois Louis lig on it. It makes a huge difference. Great piece. Buy it.
