P. Mauriat PMXT-66R Series Professional Tenor SaxophonePMXT-66R Series Tenor Saxophones incorporate P. Mauriat's unique rolling process which fully utilizes the saxophone's existing material. Unlike rolled toneholes of the past, there is no soldering here, the toneholes are drawn from the body and then rolled over allowing superior resonance throughout the entire saxophone and increased response in all ranges. The PMXT-66R also has an enlarged bell that lets the warm, fat sound of this exceptional horn really cut through an ensemble. This professional class instrument also features a Super VI style neck, abalone key touches, and hand engraving on the bell and bow. PMXt-66R Series Tenor Saxophones are available in four unique finishes: vintage dark lacquer (DK), classic gold lacquer (GL), cognac lacquer (CL) , and raw brass (UL). Each lacquer lends a different color to the sound.PMXT-66R DK – The vintage dark lacquer finish compliments the PMXA- 67R with a warm round sound players will fall in love with.PMXT-66R GL – A gold lacquer finish has a slightly more brilliant tone than the vintage dark lacquer and offers players the classic look, feel, and response that one should expect of a professional saxophone.PMXT-66R CL –Cognac lacquer gives the player a new and unique look and feel as well as free response. It's very uniform in all registers with the outstanding intonation quality.PMXT-66R UL – Unfinished raw brass allows this sax to resonate freely. In addition, the absence of lacquer allows the brass to age over time, creating a unique vintage look and feel.P. Mauriat is a leader in the industry as an innovator of modern vintage saxophones and trumpets. Each horn is handcrafted from start to finish out of the very finest materials. From fresh ideas in metal combinations, to cutting-edge neck designs and trendsetting finishes, P. Mauriat continually works to solidify their reputation for creating horns that offer the sound, response, ergonomics and intonation that will impress even the most demanding players.

The P. Mauriat PMXT-66R is now my new favorite horn. I purchased the 66RUL model, and man, this horn is a MONSTER. The action is very nice, and the tone is nice and beefy. The Mouthpiece it comes with is actually one of the nicer stock pieces I have played before, it has a very unique chamber design.. but, when I popped my OttoLink NewYorker on this horn. BAM. Its officially a Monster. If you're looking for a great Tenor sax. This is it. And I must say, the price isnt too bad either for what you're getting. 5 out of 5 stars!
I bought this saxophone mainly because I wanted a very professional sounding tenor saxophone and I got just what I wanted and more. This sax is probably the most beautiful sounding tenor I have ever gotten my hands on, not only that I thought the finish was superb and the feel was just magnificent!!!
Recently I tried two Selmer Reference 54's, a Keilwerth SX90, a Mauriat 66RUL, and the 66RDK. All were fantastic horns, but both Mauriats allowed me to completely externalize what I heard in my head. Specifically with the 66RDK, the ergos were ever so comfortable, the Super VI neck made for great intonation, altissimo, and response. The sound was husky, focused, colorful, yet controlled. I used my Otto Link NY 6*, and I can say that once I can afford this horn, I will definitely be investing.
