The Pro-Mark Mike Portnoy Autograph Series Drumstick is a hickory stick that is slightly smaller in diameter than a hickory 5A with a 747 taper and a nylon tip. As the drummer for the band Dream Theater, Mike skillfully steers the course though an inventive blend of melodic rock and odd meters.

Comments about PROMARK Mike Portnoy Autograph Series Drumsticks:
I really love the size of the Promark 727s but they are a bit heavy. I also use Promark Jazz, Firth 7A, and Zildjian sticks. As you can tell, I buy and try a number of different kinds of sticks. I'm always searching for one that is better than the other. I must say, I am very impressed with the Portnoy sticks. They are just as thick as the 727 but much lighter and thus they allow you to play much faster. For a stick that is this light, they hold up well to cymbals. I've never been a huge fan of the nylon tip sticks but I don't mind them is this case. I bought three pairs a while back and will be placing an order for some more. I must say that these are best for rock and heavy play. I still like the Jazz series of sticks for lighter play.
