Patricola instruments exhibit the high quality and exceptional craftsmanship of an Italian brand. These exquisite oboes, clarinets, and English horns, date back to 1976 when the Patricola family first began to make instruments.
The family learned the art of instrument making from an artisan in their village. Their skill soon led to the founding of their own brand and company. The company handles all of the design and manufacture of each instrument and is highly receptive to customer feedback. While the company has expanded beyond its initial origins, it is still largely a family run affair with a second generation now involved.
Patricola prides itself on using wood that is naturally aged for eleven to thirteen years. This commitment to the quality of materials used can be heard in the rich, exceptional sound produced. The S6 Professional Oboe demonstrates the careful craftsmanship and quality infused by this company. This oboe features a brilliant, light tone and is highly responsive. It is available in a choice of aged Mozambique Grenadilla or Brazilian Rosewood. The Rosewood is an ideal choice for smaller venues while the Grenadilla provides a fuller projection.
Other popular Patricola instruments include the CL4 Bb Clarinet. This instrument is the pinnacle of the Virtuoso Series and produces a soft, lovely sound. It is formed from Mozambique Grenadilla and features silver-plated keys. The S3 English Horn has the full conservatory system as well as an added Low Bb extension. For playing Baroque Era music, the Oboe d'Amore Oboe produces the necessary elegant, rich sounds with a full projection.
