I opened the box, opened the bag, set it up, folded it up and was out the door with it to a gig in 5 minutes! As soon as I set it up on site, several musicians commented on it and asked for purchasing information.
This is truly the best portable stand I've ever seen. It's easy, light weight, sturdy, holds LOTS of music and adjusts to multiple heights rapidly including a very tall height, comfortable for viewing while standing.
The other critical feature that makes it the best portable stand is the light weight carrying bag. The stand slides in easy with enough room to store a good stand light, (I used a Grover/Trophy BLS-1 Bandstand Music Stand Lamp.) The bag can easily be carried by hand or tossed over a shoulder.
I have been using this stand for about 2 years and it has never let me down. I play in a big band and keep my music in very heavy binders. I can put a binder with over 300 pages on this stand with no problem. It has 2 small arms that can be pivoted up to help hold your pages in place which work great for outdoor gigs. I can attach a clip on stand light with no problem. The only downside I have found is that accessories like mute holders that attach to the lip of the stand don't often fit. However, the Jo-ral mute holders that attach to the shaft work fine. It is compact and the bag is easy to throw over your shoulder.
I have been using this stand for a year or more and it suits my needs perfectly. It is compact when folded, yet it has the strength and stability of the better (unfolding) type. The case also allows room for extras, such as music clips. Many of my friends who have seen it are very impressed with it also.
I was thinking about buying a new music stand to replace my old wire stand. I was looking at all different types. Then at one of my practices the bassoon player showed up with this stand. I asked him how he liked it and he was complaining that he could not attach his reed holder cup to the stand and was sorry that he bought it. He offered to sell it to me if I liked it. That was 3 years ago. I think is one of the best stands around. Since I got it I know of six other people that bought one because they saw mine. My only complaint is the self that used to attach to bottom of my old stand to hold reeds and glass cases does not attach to this one with out using binder clips. After the bassoon player saw what I did to attach my shelf he started to wonder why he didn't do the same thing to attach his reed holder. I would buy another one if I needed one.
This is the best stand I've ever used. It's lightweight, very portable and easy to fold up. It has the stability and holding power of a metal Manhasset stand without the weight or cost, plus you can carry it anywhere! When my quintet saw my stand, they all wanted one and got them-- now we match. It works really well outside; it won't blow over in the wind and helps keep your music in place too. Best value out there for stands, in my opinion.
I've been using this stand at home and for various rehearsals for over a year. It is very sturdy, lightweight to carry at about 5.6 lbs, and has it's own carry bag. However, I've gotten tired of the hassle that comes with its double duty of use at home and at rehearsals. It takes a couple extra minutes to fold up or open up and my hands are always full. Otherwise it is a great stand for the price. I am ordering another, less complicated stand to carry to rehearsals.
I'm not sure what I could add that hasn't already been said. I just know that it is nice to not have to carry around an old metal stand in two separate pieces anymore. This is much lighter and much easier to carry. It is also sturdy enough to hold the large music books I use. The clamps are easy to use and they hold everything in place. If you frequently carry your own music stand to rehearsals and gigs, then I would highly recommend this one.
First off, I love the carry bag and its strong handles - I can carry my alto flute on the top of the bag. The stand is strong and light yet sturdy. The adjustment clamps are easy to lock and unlock, precise and secure like no other and the tubing glides from height to height. It has generous dimensions suitable for my music when either playing or conducting, heaps of room on the ledge for tuner, baton etc. As with any new stand though, I pull off the rubber feet and replace each after applying a little glue inside to ensure they stay put.
Excellent value. I have had one for over a year. I use it at home. It will support several large music books at a time. When I travel, I use my wire stand if I don't need the sturdiness that this Peak provides. It is portable, but heavier than the wire ones. It is great to have a stand that is as solid as a big standard metal one, but yet will fold for travel if needed. Also it is easy to clip a light to--much better than a wire stand.
This music stand is easily 100 times sturdier than any other portables. It looks better performance wise than the others (it actually looks like a music stand). It is a bit heavier, but certainly isn't overbearing. Most other portable music stands can fall over from being breathed on too hard. This is the best music stand out there (at least in ones that fold up), and it fits into a reasonably sized carrying case. I would pay $100 for this stand. Luckily, it only costs $30.
