This stand is reasonably priced and well made, it has a lot of room on the desk, and if you need to use clips to hold music outside, the sides are thin enough to clamp to. It's sturdy and adjustable, very useful again for outdoors use. It breaks down easily, stores easy and there is a lot of room in the carry bag so I can put my clarinet floor stand in there as well.
I've been using this stand at home and for various rehearsals for over a year. It is very sturdy, lightweight to carry at about 5.6 lbs, and has it's own carry bag. However, I've gotten tired of the hassle that comes with its double duty of use at home and at rehearsals. It takes a couple extra minutes to fold up or open up and my hands are always full. Otherwise it is a great stand for the price. I am ordering another, less complicated stand to carry to rehearsals.
I play in a band with a huge, heavy book, and this stand holds it easily. I'm continually amazed at how strong it is yet so light and portable. Unbelievable!! Worth twice the cost!
I love this stand. It has exceeded my expectations for a portable stand. And it stands up very well to in home use. The desk is large enough to hold my music folder, which can be quite heavy at times. Plus, I love the adjustable rods along the edge for holding those noxious pieces of music that continue to curl. The cost is very reasonable. So much so, that I am ordering additional stands for musicians who come to visit.
I wanted a more sturdy portable stand than the traditional wire variety. Other choices on the market work fine but are less convenient and more expensive. I ordered the standard length Peak. It's easy to set up and its folding plastic desk supports a slide-on 2-inch base that holds my full music binder with ease. There are page retainers on the edge of the base but they may not be enough protection in a gusty outdoor performance. The tubular metal legs unfold to a fixed tripod base and the vertical sections extend and lock in place with lever-style clamps similar to a photo tripod. It folds to approximately 5" by 5" by 28" (inches) before you put it in its included bag. I love it because it's light, compact, easy to carry, and cleverly designed.
I just got this stand, but so far it seems very sturdy and well-made; the set-up is smooth and fun. The desk is made of a thick, sturdy plastic. The fold hinges look a bit tacky to me, but it's cool that it folds up like that. I don't know if the rods for holding music would hold anything But thick music books because they just stick straight up on the front edge of the shelf, but maybe that's good...like I say, I just got it. I also like the bag and the extra space it has.
This is the best stand I've ever used. It's lightweight, very portable and easy to fold up. It has the stability and holding power of a metal Manhasset stand without the weight or cost, plus you can carry it anywhere! When my quintet saw my stand, they all wanted one and got them-- now we match. It works really well outside; it won't blow over in the wind and helps keep your music in place too. Best value out there for stands, in my opinion.
I was immediately impressed with the stability of this stand. It is as stable as a regular Manhasset stand, yet weighs about 1/2 less. It sets up and packs up quickly and has no problems with stand lights. The carry bag is included in the price and is also well made.
After using this stand for several months I can without hesitation recommend it to anyone looking for a solid music stand that also just happens to be portable.
This music stand is easily 100 times sturdier than any other portables. It looks better performance wise than the others (it actually looks like a music stand). It is a bit heavier, but certainly isn't overbearing. Most other portable music stands can fall over from being breathed on too hard. This is the best music stand out there (at least in ones that fold up), and it fits into a reasonably sized carrying case. I would pay $100 for this stand. Luckily, it only costs $30.
I just bought 2 of these stands and they are beyond what I expected. I was shocked when I saw it was all one piece (with the exception of the tray). I would recommend this product to anyone.
