This amp may be solid state but it is very good. I have owned it for about one and a half years. It has been all over the U.S. and has seen over 50 gigs and has been treated very harsh. Let me say that it still sounds just as great as when I bought it. Its distortion is O.K. but I use many pedals so that does not matter for me. It also has a really exelent spring reverb it sounds like something that you would hear on a $1000 combo amp. This amp is good for any beginer or intermediate guitarists.
I bought this thing used and I don't know how old it is, but its got some serious wear marks and no longer has a handle (its been pulled off). Given the condition it plays very reliably. I have found the polarity switch on the back to be useful on more than one occasion, and the tones are pretty good for being a solid state. I use an external analog overdrive pedal so I can't speak much to the amps own distortion. But, and this is is important, this amp will project an acoustic guitar very well given that it isn't a acoustic amp. I switch back and forth between electric and acoustic often, when I am on electric I use the Vintage voice to give it a more treble-ly slightly (very slightly) overdriven sound, but switch it to modern for the acoustic and you get ride of that nasty treble one that plagues acoustic electric guitars. So in addition to the good points raised by other reviews consider that this amp would also be good if your playing acoustic and electric in a band.
I've been playing on this amp for two years, and it has held up flawlessly. It's seen upwards of around 8 gigs and countless hours of practice. I don't use it for shows anymore, as it has been replaced by a twin reverb, but I was so attached to it I decided to keep it for practices. The Bandit does everything and the sound is amazing for a solid state 112. The two channels will take you from jazz to thrash metal, and every stop in between. The clean channel is excellent, and holds its own next to my twin reverb. It features a vintage/modern voicing switch; no they are not separate channels, they are simply different voicing. The vintage puts more emphasis on punchy lows and sharp highs, while the modern provides a more contoured sound. The lead channel also provides a number of different voicing: vintage, modern, and high gain. The vintage, my personal favorite, gives you those "brown" tones, similar to the sounds of a 1959 Marshall 100 watt Plexi and great for classic rock. The modern voicing provides a highly distorted, scooped sound that rivals a dual rectifier, and provides good thrash sounds. The high gain voicing provides loads of distortion, and a fat sound with crunchy mids, big bottom and loud highs, similar to that of a Marshall jcm 800. The master channel has a reverb control, presence, which controls the articulation of high frequencies, a resonance switch, which when switched to loose allows the speaker to resonate more, providing the sound of a larger cabinet, and a t-dynamics control. The t-dynamics controls the over-all power of the amp, allowing you to keep your tone at any volume. The amp also features a convenient two-button footswitch, an effects loop, pre amp input jack, which bypasses the amp's pre amp, and an external speaker jack, for sending the preamp signal to an 8-ohm external cabinet, such as a 4-12. The amp is all in all, an excellent and extremely versatile amp for its price.
This is an amazing amp. 3 lead channels and 2 clean channels.Brill amp and very loud.
For a solid-state amp this thing is good. The clean channel is very good but be warned: do NOT put a distortion box through this amp. The distortion channel is once again good for a solid state amp but only at like 1 or 2. anything higher then that and the thing just HUMS like crazy and the sound worsens as you push the amp.
