I bought this amp about a year ago, and can honestly say I had no problems. Disto is heavy, clean is beautiful, there's some noise, but I've heard way worse. This bandit has great features and u'll never get a better amp for under 500 bucks.
I bought this thing used and I don't know how old it is, but its got some serious wear marks and no longer has a handle (its been pulled off). Given the condition it plays very reliably. I have found the polarity switch on the back to be useful on more than one occasion, and the tones are pretty good for being a solid state. I use an external analog overdrive pedal so I can't speak much to the amps own distortion. But, and this is is important, this amp will project an acoustic guitar very well given that it isn't a acoustic amp. I switch back and forth between electric and acoustic often, when I am on electric I use the Vintage voice to give it a more treble-ly slightly (very slightly) overdriven sound, but switch it to modern for the acoustic and you get ride of that nasty treble one that plagues acoustic electric guitars. So in addition to the good points raised by other reviews consider that this amp would also be good if your playing acoustic and electric in a band.
I've had this amp for years, and it has never been anything but amazing. The Transtube adds a tone to the amp that I haven?t been able to find in any other solid states. The clean channel is amazing, and as everyone has said is great for jazz. Loud enough for small-medium gigs. Buy it. This beast does not disappoint.
This amp is versatile and lets you easily switch between sounds with the tap of your foot. I used it with many different guitars and in all genres of music and found it to be one of the best I've owned. You can definitely get what you need from this amp.
This amp is a good amp when playing in a small room (like a bedroom). Cranking this amp up tends to lose the tone you liked at softer levels. The fight you have is constantly adjusting the tone until you have a sound that isn't too bright, not muddy, and carries to your audience. This seems almost impossible by setting your levels at home, and the last thing I like doing at a gig. If this amp had a little more power(100 watts), I would feel it would the tone issue would cure itself.
