Bought myself a PT-44 about two or three years ago while I was still in high school. Right away I noticed a difference in my tone quality as well as how much more flexable it was compared to the crap school piece I was playing on. Being my first mouthpiece though I thought it would be worth it to try out some more to see if this one was truly the best for me. Therefore, I bought the G&W Baer mouthpiece to only later find out I wasted $165. PT mouthpieces are top of the line. I've accomplished so much on mine (including a full ride to Arizona State University). So go for it! There is such a wide selection there is bound to be one perfect for you!
Before I purchased this mouthpiece I had a Conn Helleberg. Which worked pretty well compared to my school mouthpiece I used. However, I started to desire a better mouthpiece than the Helleberg. A mouthpiece that would support low, middle, and high registers well. Somebody recommended me the Pt-50 mouthpiece and I decided to try it out. It indeed is "The Right Response". Just through buzzing the mouthpiece alone there was a tonal difference between the Helleberg and Perantucci. About two weeks later I went to State Solo and Ensemble and earned a first division on my solo and ensemble. This mouthpiece gave me a darker more beautiful tone. It also gave me more clarity to fast playing on the low register. I recommend this to anyone who desires an all around mouthpiece.
I got the PT 88+ mouthpiece on the recommendation of Brent Longstaff, Principle tubist of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, and I absolutely love it. The PT 88+ is really deep, has a large cup diameter, and allows for a dark, rich tone in both the low register and the high register, and seemingly makes the job of getting to the high register easier, considering it's size. Also, because it's the heavy shell model (you can't get the heavy shell models from woodwind and brasswind,) it has more focus in any range, and more attack when you want more attack. I like the PT series of mouthpieces so much, I'm thinking of getting another one, so I own 2 mouthpieces, and for a better range. I'm in high school and got my mouthpiece in grade nine, and would recommend Perantucci mouthpieces to anyone.
I'm a senior in high school who has been playinig tuba for 3 and a half years now and started of on a bad mouthpiece then someone gave m e a conn hellberg which was a good mouthpiece but I want something better. Something to support my sound better in all registers. I tried a out a few different mouthpieces and feel in love with the pt-89. It is a perfect mouthpiece for my playing style . I use it for marching band, symphonic band and solo work and it's perfect for all of that. I would recommend the pt-89 to any one or just perantucci mouthpieces in general. The cool thing about perantucci is that they offer alot of different styles to fit anyone's playing style. Buy and you won't be disappointed!
Hello, I am a high school senior, but I have been playing tube for the past 6 years. I have been testing loads of mouthpieces, and the PT-50, is the most amazing mouthpiece I've ever owned. This mouthpiece gives such a warm, dark tone on any horn. It does not just give you an amazing tone, it is quite easy to articulate with it. It is quite large, it is too big for F/Eb horns, but to me and my Instructor, is the optimum mouthpiece for any BBb/CC tuba. With all large mouthpieces, you get a stronger, cleaner low register, and you need to work harder on the higher register. But not with this mouthpiece, I have a strong nice tone, throughout all registers. Before this mouthpiece I had been using a G&W Bayamo mouthpiece, it was nice, but in my opinion, it cannot compare to the Perantucci PT-50.
