I have the PT-88 and it is a great investment I can hit all the way down to a double pedal Eb on this mouthpiece. I use this strictly for marching season though because it is hard to control sound, and I always play loud. Also it is very hard to hit notes at the top of the staff on this particular mouthpiece
I bought this mouthpiece because my principal at my university used it. I didn't use it for the longest time, prefering my Schilke 69C4, but I recently bought the Kanstul 902-4C, their 3/4 CC tuba. I played with the PT 50 and fell in love. It gave my sound such a richness that it now sounds like I am playing on a 5/4 horn rather than a 3/4. The deeper cup requires that you work more on your high range, but low range work just absolutely sings. I love this mouthpiece.
This is a great mouthpiece, I use if for marching band or anytime I need to get a huge sound out of my horn. I get extremely good projection in the very high and very low registers. The only reason I only use this for marching and the reason it is only 4 stars is because my tone is not as good as when I play on my Conn Helleberg
Before I purchased this mouthpiece I had a Conn Helleberg. Which worked pretty well compared to my school mouthpiece I used. However, I started to desire a better mouthpiece than the Helleberg. A mouthpiece that would support low, middle, and high registers well. Somebody recommended me the Pt-50 mouthpiece and I decided to try it out. It indeed is "The Right Response". Just through buzzing the mouthpiece alone there was a tonal difference between the Helleberg and Perantucci.
About two weeks later I went to State Solo and Ensemble and earned a first division on my solo and ensemble. This mouthpiece gave me a darker more beautiful tone. It also gave me more clarity to fast playing on the low register. I recommend this to anyone who desires an all around mouthpiece.
Bought myself a PT-44 about two or three years ago while I was still in high school. Right away I noticed a difference in my tone quality as well as how much more flexable it was compared to the crap school piece I was playing on. Being my first mouthpiece though I thought it would be worth it to try out some more to see if this one was truly the best for me. Therefore, I bought the G&W Baer mouthpiece to only later find out I wasted $165. PT mouthpieces are top of the line. I've accomplished so much on mine (including a full ride to Arizona State University). So go for it! There is such a wide selection there is bound to be one perfect for you!
