Before I purchased this mouthpiece I had a Conn Helleberg. Which worked pretty well compared to my school mouthpiece I used. However, I started to desire a better mouthpiece than the Helleberg. A mouthpiece that would support low, middle, and high registers well. Somebody recommended me the Pt-50 mouthpiece and I decided to try it out. It indeed is "The Right Response". Just through buzzing the mouthpiece alone there was a tonal difference between the Helleberg and Perantucci.
About two weeks later I went to State Solo and Ensemble and earned a first division on my solo and ensemble. This mouthpiece gave me a darker more beautiful tone. It also gave me more clarity to fast playing on the low register. I recommend this to anyone who desires an all around mouthpiece.
I got the PT 88+ mouthpiece on the recommendation of Brent Longstaff, Principle tubist of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, and I absolutely love it. The PT 88+ is really deep, has a large cup diameter, and allows for a dark, rich tone in both the low register and the high register, and seemingly makes the job of getting to the high register easier, considering it's size. Also, because it's the heavy shell model (you can't get the heavy shell models from woodwind and brasswind,) it has more focus in any range, and more attack when you want more attack. I like the PT series of mouthpieces so much, I'm thinking of getting another one, so I own 2 mouthpieces, and for a better range. I'm in high school and got my mouthpiece in grade nine, and would recommend Perantucci mouthpieces to anyone.
I'm a middle school Tubest, and I started using this mouthpiece a year ago. I really liked it and got a full size sound out of my 3/4th size tuba. I went to all-state try outs a little nervous because of my terrible tuba, but i ended up getting 3rd chair all state, and I have to give a lot of credit to the great sound that comes from this mouthpiece.
Bought myself a PT-44 about two or three years ago while I was still in high school. Right away I noticed a difference in my tone quality as well as how much more flexable it was compared to the crap school piece I was playing on. Being my first mouthpiece though I thought it would be worth it to try out some more to see if this one was truly the best for me. Therefore, I bought the G&W Baer mouthpiece to only later find out I wasted $165. PT mouthpieces are top of the line. I've accomplished so much on mine (including a full ride to Arizona State University). So go for it! There is such a wide selection there is bound to be one perfect for you!
This is a great mouthpiece, I use if for marching band or anytime I need to get a huge sound out of my horn. I get extremely good projection in the very high and very low registers. The only reason I only use this for marching and the reason it is only 4 stars is because my tone is not as good as when I play on my Conn Helleberg
