This stainless M2 Plus 110 tip is clearly different from my original gold plate M2 Plus, brighter, richer in overtones. After thirty years of working on altissimo and testing multiple horn, MP,and reed combos, I can finally play altissimo with confidence. Works best on my King Zephyr, Buffet Super Dyanaction, B&S Chicago. Tested several Selmer Mark VIs but never found the right one. MPs that didn't do it for me: Link, Dukoff, Berg, Jody, S&R, Vandoren, Lawton, Bari, Brilhart. Guardala Super King and the original M2 Plus are good but not as good. Fibracell 2 1/2 works the best, Java 2 1/2 almost. It's all about finding the right set up for you. Thank you, Peter.
I do not believe that there is a finer mouthpiece on the market than this one. I have used many mouthpieces, but this is the best. It takes the work out of performing so that you can relax and enjoy your efforts. Every note is right on. I am using Ponzol's neck on my tenor, also. I am totally pleased with sound plus the ease of playing. It is a product of a perfectionist.
I confess I did not buy the M2 Plus 105 that I trialed. It just didn't have the hint of "dirty fat-ness" I found in a plain-old metal Link 'Tone edge'. That being said, I recognized that this was a quality MP. Easy to reach both low and altissimo ranges, and a clean, pure tone that required minimal embouchure adjustment note to note. It really sings. Experienced players know what they're looking for and I would highly recommend trialing this MP.
I typically do not write reviews; however, this mouthpiece is phenomenal. Although it is expensive, you get what you pay for. After testing out a Dukoff, Selmer, Beechler, and Guardala, this was the best. It plays extremely well in tune and plays well in the lower range as well as in the altissimo. It projects extremely well, so it may take a while to get used to the big sound.
I am a student and take private lessons. As soon as my instructor heard me play on this, he went out and bought the same mouthpiece.
This is a keeper.
