Petersen Folding Music StandThe folding Peterson Design sheet music stand is made from black, injection-molded ABS plastic. Its design is light yet impact resistant, collapses into a portable size, has adjustable desk angle, and sets up and takes down in seconds. The Folding Music Stand's height adjusts from 25" to 41" and pull-out extensions provide 4-sheet capacity.

I bought this stand 1-2 months back and when I first got it, it looked very cheap. I proceeded to give this product a shot but over time realized what a mistake I had made. The base is shaky and cheap and the sheet and music holder is very user unfriendly.
I purchased this stand along with the matching bag designed for it 2 years ago. It is now broken. :-( As I read in someone else's review today, the legs are sometimes difficult to remove and that is exactly where my stand just broke. There is no way to fix it as the legs slide into a plastic slot which just partially fractured away. I also found that my accessory tray (which I love and fits on a standard Manhasset stand) would not fit on this stand which has a larger center pipe. Also, the slide on tray that comes with this stand is much too narrow and I have had music fly off of it even at indoor concerts because it will not accommodate much music. I also have trouble getting the case to close properly with all the parts inside. I am usually the LAST one to leave after cleaning up my "stuff" after a concert.
I bought two of these and didn't mind the plasticky feel at first. Pretty soon bits of both began to break, despite only light, infrequent use. The round grip that sets the height split on both and we used gaffa tape for a while but then the legs' mounting section began to fall out of the central tube. Sometimes a leg would fall off if you lifted it to move it. We've now consigned them both to the bin and I'm looking for two new portable but sturdy stands.
It's a great idea, but the quality is poor. The locking mechanism for the desk hinge jams up, so you either can't tighten it, or the desk can't be folded or unfolded. But the biggest problem is with the legs. The tops of the legs have a wedge that fits into slots on the center tube. There's no positive locking of the legs into the stand, so the legs fall out very easily when you move the stand, or just lightly bump it. As a result of falls, I've had the wedge on one leg break off. Petersen sent a replacement leg, but the problem remains.
A music stand that so readily falls apart is not acceptable in a performance environment.
This is a decent stand for what it is, but I think it is too cheaply made for the price. I've gone through three of these stands in the last six years - the head of the stand folds in half (for easy storage), but the knobs to tighten and loosen it get off track easily, so there went stand number one. On stand number two, the bit that is used to tighten the stand to keep it in place when adjusting the height literally just snapped in half. I'm on stand number three right now - it was built with the tolerances too tight, so putting it together and getting it apart is a real pain. That being said, I haven't found any other portable stands on the market that are better. If you have room, just buy a real non-folding stand. Otherwise, this is way better than the wire stand you're used to from middle school, and until something else comes out, it's not bad.
