OVERVIEW

Response only crystal can provide.

The Pomarico Crystal Alto Clarinet Mouthpieces all offer excellent response and the clear articulation that can only be found in glass.
Pomarico's long experience making mouthpieces led them to the use what they believe is the best possible material to produce clarinet mouthpieces--crystal! This material is absolutely the best sound conductor, the most hygienic, and will not change its shape over time. Each of Pomarico's mouthpieces is entirely handmade of pure Italian crystal from Tuscany. Being the largest producer of crystal mouthpieces, Pomarico is able to offer very high quality products at a very reasonable price. For this reason Pomarico mouthpieces are played and appreciated world-wide.

Praise the shipping, condemn the piece

I am VERY sad to be dissatisfied with this mouthpiece. I had heard about the "crystal clear attack and sound" and thought that's what I would get. I am in a really bad situation with alto clarinet because my great old Kohlert has been in the shop for months and I wanted to try to get a better sound out of the Bundy that I've had to deal with to until mine finally gets back from the shop. I expected a huge sound with improved upper register and wonderful control in the high register. What I got was terrible honks, very low volume and no attack, and that darn thing had to be pulled almost all the way out to be in tune. And With my serious chops all I could get was a wonderful squeak. I was in love with my Selmer C* after switching from a Bundy mouthpiece. And I was right. I think the one that WWBW ships (marked "1" in the top) may work for someone who would like to hide behind the trombones and saxes like (unfortunetaly) alot of players do. But if you're like me and you crank out some serious sound to be HEARD then this is worse than the Bundy mouthpiece. I believe that because it had a number mark on the top that there may be other tip openings/facings but Pomarico.com doesn't even have an alto piece listed. If there were others I would get the most open... It may very well be inferior to all of the commercial clarinet pieces. I tried everything I could but it just didn't work for me. It's also too slender to use most ligatures on it. On the bright side the shipping was great. The three stars is because there are people who can probably play this but I can't
