This Protec reed case is AWSUM!!! When I first got in the mail I was surprised how small it was. And at first I didnÆt think I was going to like it. But after i used it, i realized that it is so small and compact. It holds 12 reeds and the slots for the reeds are numbered so it works great for the reed rotation process. Also i like that each reed has its own slot so you know the reeds will stay in place. And one of the best things about this product is that it is very cheap compared to some of the larger, bulkier brand name reed cases! It is a great buy and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good, cheap reed guard case!

This is a decent product for storing and organizing reeds. The only problem I have with it is the inconsistency in the slots that hold the reeds...they slots don't all hold the reeds flat so I end up with warped reeds sometimes. Reeds need a place to dry FLAT so that they don't warp, they last longer, and they are more dependable when you go back to use them. Overall, I'm can't say I'm super impressed with the product...it's just kind of average.

    Must be cleaned regularly

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

It used to be that the area underneath the reeds was flat, and therefore was flush against the reed. This was ok, except for the air didn't flow underneath the reeds. Therefore, the areas under the bands that keep the reeds in place stayed damp--and grew mold. This design flaw has been fixed, but I still can't see under the bands well enough to tell if it's truly clean or not. So, I advise cleaning it every so often in a watered down solution of hydrogen peroxide and water in a bowl. Just soak it for five minutes then rinse, dry, and let stand overnight to make sure all the moisture evaporates. Due to fact that it's a little cumbersome and I'm paranoid about mold, I just use the plastic cases that the reeds come in.

    Protec Clarinet Reed Case

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

The reed bed for the middle four reeds is not deep enough to easily accommodate the reeds (because the lock mechanism intrudes into the inside of the reed case). At least, that's what I experience with Vandoren Rue Lepic reeds. I would not recommend this reed case.

The screws are rusting and it DOES NOT has air flow! My reeds are all moldy from it! But it looks very sleek and is great for organizing.

    Good, but with Limitations

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

Overall, I really like this reed case. It's compact, aesthetically pleasing (well, as much so as a reed case can be...), and does the job just fine. There is one minor caveat: though there are 12 reed "slots," the case won't shut if all 12 slots are full. I can only fit in about 8 reeds and still have the case shut all the way. This is plenty enough for me, but if you really need 12 reeds, I would look elsewhere. Aside from this shortcoming, I would recommend this reed case for someone who wants quality on a budget.

    POOR DESIGN

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

I have being using 2 of the older case models which have comfortably maintained all my reeds - both Vandoren traditionals and thicker V12s and 56's. I recently bought 2 of the new model cases currently available and am very dissatisfied with the product. The case dimensions have been slightly changed so that traditional Vandoren reeds slip in their slot towards the table edge hinges and as a result are chipped off when one closes the case - which is totally unacceptable. Only thicker reeds are impervious to this change - but be careful.

    BAD CASE

    By

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

This Case is really bad, although it can hold 12 reeds, is actually hurts your reeds. I currently play on a 3 1/2 Gonzalez reeds, these did not fit properly inside, causing the case to actually make knicks and marks after I put them into the slot. The reed case also does not close properly if the reeds are not jammed in the slot all the way.

This case is great for holding reeds. It's small and helps keep bulky reed boxes out of your case. The spaces are numbered which is really handy.

Very good Product. Could be better.

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

What I expected when I got the package was a big clunky clarinet case. I expected a case that holds 12 reeds to be big and thick. When I got it, it was very small and slim. It doesn't fit in my Yamaha double clarinet case. But I have a bag I carry around anyway. Sometimes after you use a reed for a long time, the next day itÆs a little warped. It gets annoying after a while but itÆs easily fixable. With the ease of now having 12 reeds to use instead of 4 itÆs worth it.

    Great case

Comments about Protec Clarinet Reed Case:

This is a really great mouthpiece case. It holds a lot of reeds, looks cool, and keep reeds in good shape. The only problem was it didn't fit in my case. You shouldn't have to worry because I had an old beat up Selmer case. All in all, good product.
