It is compact, yet with plenty of storage space. It has enough room for a small compact portable music stand and still enough room for a straight mute.
I purchased this Protec Deluxe gig bag after looking over one owned by a fellow trumpeter in my band. It is a great bag with extra thick padding. It protects my trumpet very well. It also had a single trumpet mouthpiece pouch included. It is light weight and has storage inside the zipper side pouch for a pen and valve oil. This bag looks very well made. I would highly recommend this Protec bag if you?re in the market for a trumpet gig bag.
Quality of construction appears to be very good. The exterior of the bottom & bell end are rubberized & somewhat rigid; also has a reinforced carrying handle (strap) on the receiver end. Fit seems a bit snug with my Strad, so you might want to ask around if you have a larger horn. Has 3 'D' rings - provides a routing option for the shoulder strap, plus attachment point for clip-on accessory (mute bag, etc). The accessory pouch is fairly roomy - easily accommodates a 2 or 3 mp pouch, oils, cell phone, etc; don't think I'd try to carry mutes in there - not much room & no padding. The case comes with a single-mouthpiece pouch (neoprene, w/ Velcro closure). Not sure what the difference is b/t this one & the standard ProTec gig bag model, but I'd say the extras on the Deluxe are worth the price diff.
This bag provides very good protection and looks stylish. It is just the right size especially when traveling by plane and is not too heavy. You can fit one mute into it as well. The mouthpiece bag that comes with it is a nice extra. The shipping was prompt and I have to say I'm very happy with the Protec product and in my opinion is value for money.
I have had the bag for over a year now and it is still in great condition. It Protects my trumpet very well. I have accidentally dropped my trumpet in the bag from about 6 feet off the ground and it was perfectly fine when i opened it to check it out. So yup, not to expensive and does a great job. Also plenty of room in the side pouch for a mute and a small trumpet stand, and also your valve oil and other needed items.
