I recently purchased this Pro Tec mute bag to replace my old one I sold to a friend. When it arrived I noticed the design had changed and it does not look like the photo on WWBW sales ad. The strap does not have the wide shoulder pad on the strap. All the ding rings are now plastic instead of metal as shown in the picture. The adjustment piece on the strap is also plastic. The spring loaded clasps on the bag and carrying strap are plastic with thin clips made of metal. It seems that Pro Tec has used cheaper attachment fixtures on this mute bag. They did put a nice divider inside which is helpful in separating the mutes and protecting them from dings. The cordura nylon is stil high quality and seems better padded than the previous design. The top cover has good metal zippers that work well. I would still recommend this product for the fact it is high quality cordura nylon and it clips to your gig bag. It is still a good price for a mute bag.
When I first received this product, I was skeptical on the amount of space inside. I started putting mutes in and was amazed that if you fit all your mutes in a "tetris" like manner, you have more space than you're able to see! Right now I have a Jo-Ral bubble, straight, and bucket mute, Denis Wick cup mute, and a plunger. All those fit with just enough room to spare. I had to stuff to get the Jo-Ral bucket mute but otherwise all those mutes fit! Recommend it over any mute bag I have ever bought.
This bag has plenty of room. I keep a strait mute, Harmon mute, cup mute, practice mute, plunger, book of fingering charts, and quad mouthpiece pouch in there with more room to spare. Clips easily onto my case. Great Product!
Bought this for my son when he started college as a Music Ed major. He loves it. Clips to his case that he carries his trumpet in and easily stores all of his mutes as well as other items. Hardy and tolerates the college life well. Had three friends, other trumptet players, ask him where he got it from. Well worth the cost!
This bag didn't really seem like much when I first got it, but WOW, you can have so many mutes, K&M stands, Silent Brasses, and you don't have to cram it into the bag! A great bag for the job and the price.
Ok, first off, the item in the pic is a bit old. You get a newer version. The newer version looks great, has a durable outer material and a mute-friendly soft lining, as well as a removable velcro divider (to keep the mutes from baging on another)
I carry my Plunger mute, Jo Ral Cup, Jo Ral Straight, and Jo ral Harmon(WahWah). I have room to spare and they all nestle nice and cozy. You could plop them in the bag or place them in like tetris, which helps a bit. I have no doubt that I would be able to fit a Jo Ral bucket mute in here as well, though it may not have the "wiggle room" my mutes have now.
Great buy. Durable. Holds max 5 mutes. Much better than a back-pack mute carrier. You, guaranteed, will NOT be disappointed.
I was expecting a hard shell case when I bought this but it is in fact a soft case. It works very well and seems to work fine for any general minor abuse that mutes might receive. Great for transporting multiple mutes if you don't have room in your case. I easily fit in my Harmon, cup, and straight mute with room to spare.
It was a very smart buy. The quality is nice like everything else I own from Protec. It holds my cup, bubble, straight, plunger and lyric mutes without any problems. Makes it more convenient when going to a gig and carrying your horns, music, stand, mutes, clothes, etc.
