I bought this case to replace the original case for my Yamaha 62 tenor. The horn fits perfectly, and the case seems to be well-made and comes with some nice features. All in all, it's a very good value.
I am wary of all but full-wood-shell cases, but the foam shell on this is nice and thick and it seems pretty rugged, and of course the outer lining will resist water pretty well. I also have no regrets about buying the 'coffin' rectangular case over a contoured case. It is far easier to stack in the car, and it makes a good table for food (or cards!) in a pinch. Since I tote this horn around to get-togethers, it's a nice double.
My Yamaha Custom EX fit beautifully, as would most other modern horns. Anything with LH or split bell keys, no. This is form-fitted for a modern horn but vintage American saxes do not fit.
However, I didn't buy this case for either of my tenors. I actually bought it for my Buescher C-melody. Obviously the horn isn't a perfect fit, so I used another product called Kaizen Foam to add inserts (similar to the way the Protec soprano case is set up) that help keep the horn in place, and stuck them in the case using dozens of furniture tacks at all possible angles, which seem to be holding so far. I also had to manually reshape the neck compartment (read: squeeze the heck out of it until the foam shifted in specific places). Now I have a great case with comfortable, integrated backpack straps, for way less than a lower-quality dedicated C-mel case.
I do have two complaints about this case.
First, the allocation of space is... bad. The neck for some reason sits sideways where the accessory compartment usually is (as opposed to having the tenon down like every other case), and the mouthpiece sits horizontally as well below the bell. The accessory compartment itself is very small for a case this size. A standard Korg metrotuner barely fits, and the neck strap has to go in the bell. On the bright side, that secondary pouch is a monstrosity and you can always put a padded bag in the bell, so you'll find a home for your stuff.
Second, unlike Protec Propacs, this case's zippers do not accommodate locks. I was able to fix this by drilling into the zippers with stainless bits and gradually increase the hole size until some small locks fit. Sure locks won't keep someone out if they really want in, but since I'm never far from the case, the idea is for someone to notice the guy fidgeting with my stuff.
Overall I am very pleased with this case.
I own a custom ex tenor from yamaha. Sax fit perfect in a bag. The bag is light and very protective. I bought it because original case in too heavy.
