Received this item and some of the design issues seem to have been resolved overall. the straps that used to be connected and sometime seem to wear out more quickly around the stitching area are no longer there, loops have been placed and you will have to order the backpack straps separately which Protec sells and, I think, is a plus because there are many times I don't want the straps taking up space in the back pocket or hanging when they are not needed. an extra mouthpiece slot has been added within the case so you can now carry two mouthpieces and an extra long strap has been added to keep the bell from moving around after you remove the cover between the horn and the bell area also for extra security, however I would have preferred a softer material on that strap because of the coarseness of the strap possibly causing minor scratching on the bell but that can easily be resolved with a handkerchief or other soft material wrapped around the strap. The front outside pocket also seems to have been slightly expanded and allowed the ability to extend out a little more. The case comes with an over the shoulder type strap for extra carrying options. The main compartment zipper also allows for a small lock to be inserted for extra security which I thought was the perfect touch. The overall quality of this item makes it very difficult to consider given the price it currently is at. I think the only negative aspect of the case is that is it a little too roomy for the main body of the French horn and I would like to see a little less space for the horn to move around in but, also again, can be remedied with a couple of soft pads placed around the horn for an extra snug fit.

This case is amazing. I love it. I?ve had it for about 4 years since I got my first screw-bell horn. You will not find a better case out there. It is amazingly well made and very protective. You could play soccer with it and it wouldn't do a thing to your horn, or probably even the case for that matter. It?s water-proof and easy to clean. The inside is incredibly smooth and soft, but very supportive. I?m completely in love with the back pack straps. They?re the best thing ever invented. Some people complain that Protec bags are a little heavy, which they can be, but when it's on your back with these straps, it feels as light as a feather and the extra weight is definitely worth it for the protection you get. The music folder on the back is HUGE, you can fit so much music in there. I think I?ve got just about every piece of music and every music book I?ve ever had in there right now and the front little pocket is perfect for keeping all your accessories neat and organized. Like I said, I?ve had it for four years and its gone everywhere with me, on planes, buses, even all across Europe and I?ve never had a problem. It?s still in near perfect condition. I?ve never had an issue with the straps; they've never torn or come off or anything. No tears whatsoever on this thing. A final note about cases in general; I would never recommend buying a case with latches. Always stick with zippers. I had a friend once who had a regular hard-shell case with latches, and she took it on a trip with her on a plane. Well when it came off the plane and she went to get it off of that conveyor belt, the latches had all come undone and the case was completely open. It was a miracle that her horn hadn't fallen out of the case. I?ll never trust a latch case every again. Stick with zippers!

"Excellent case for the price"

This is the second ProTec screw bell horn case that I am purchasing. For the money it's a great buy. It's nice that it has a back pocket large enough for an orchestra folder. Could use one smaller accessory pocket, and also another slot for a second mouthpiece. I am buying a second one because the straps gave out on the first one. The plastic adjustment brackets on the straps will give way eventually - so be careful.
