Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

I keep 10 Rigotti Gold tenor reeds in mine. The fit, but you have to push them in all the way so the case will latch shut. Only downside (and it is MINOR): if you are in a hurry when putting your tenor reeds away, it is easy to damage them since the fit is so tight. That being said, I've gone through 5-6 boxes of ten in mine, and only damaged one reed in haste.

The reed slots are numbered, which I like, too. 100% satisfied. If each slot were 1-2 mm wider, I'd give it the fifth star. I'm buying 2 more for myself and one for my son.

    Just what i needed

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

I've been using this reed case for a while and have had no problems with it so far. It does its job well and keeps my reeds from warping. I play an alto so i know it holds that size reed well but not sure about tenor. As far as I'm concerned this is a great product and is very affordable.

    Nice with a Flaw

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

Really nice case if you're playing synthetics, but for real cane, I'd want a spring clamp on the reed tip to keep it from warping like the old metal Rico keeper had.

I use this more than my Hygrocase

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

This product is meant to protect any type of saxophone reed. While it worked very well with my Alto reeds. Trying to fit my Tenor Reeds in the case was a bit of a hassle. I'm not saying your Tenor Reeds won't fit. I'm just saying you'll have to push them in a little harder to close the case. Other than that it does what it says it does. I have had warped reeds. All I have to do is stick them back in the case and a couple of hours later the reeds are slightly "fixed". It's really great.

Don't believe what the other negative reviewers have written. This is an excellent reed case that gets the job done and is available for a fraction of what the others cost. I ordered one for saxophone and clarinet.

    Solid!

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

Great case! Keeps reeds mold-free and unwarped as long as you wipe the reed clean before you put it in the case. I've had mine for 6 years and it's still holding strong despite the abuse I've put it through.

Great for Alto and Clarinet; not very good for Tenor

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

First off, I really like these cases. They hold a good amount of reeds and the reeds don't warp. Also, while mold grows easily when I use the Rico or Vandoren enclosed cases (maybe because I live in a high humidity area), these keep reeds mold free. There's room enough for a Rico humidpak if you're into that and it still stays free of mold. I use them for both Alto and Clarinet. It doesn't work that great for tenor though. Tenor reeds hang over the edge and depending on the cut of the reed, the case might not even be able to close. When I do get tenor reeds that fit in the slots, I can only use one half of the case because if I tried to use the other as well, it wouldn't shut. Also, the reed slots aren't identical. It's not an issue with alto reeds, but some slots are a little smaller and it feels like you really have to force a tenor reed in there. So the best case scenario is that you have 5 tenor slots instead of 10, and you can leave the other 5 empty or use them on Alto reeds. If you're handy, you might be able to saw off the ends of you tenor reeds slightly to make them fit. Although it may be described sometimes as an alto/tenor case, it is really just an alto case that may or may not be able to accommodate a few tenor reeds. So, highly recommended for Alto and Clarinet. Not recommended for Tenor reeds.

    pretty good reed case

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

This reed case is pretty good. It is sturdy and light, and holds a good amount of reeds for the space, however, my reeds tended to get moldy and the case is pretty big. Depending what the conditions are like where you live, this product may or may not be right for you.

    Good, solid case

Comments about Protec Saxophone Reed Case:

I've had this case since I was in high school, and it definitely served its purpose. This kept my reeds in a safe, dry place when I was wasn't using them. ItÆs light and can easily fit in any case. Also, you can put Soprano sax reeds in this and it'll hold them just as well as the Alto and Tenor reeds. Great buy, and I would highly recommend this to any of my future students.
