Product Overview and Specifications
This highly versatile Randall RM100M 100 Watt 3-channel Guitar Amplifier Head melds tradition and technology. 3 independent channels can be loaded with your choice of any of the available tube preamp modules from Randall (modules sold separately). Set this head up with tones that exactly fit your needs, then expand your arsenal anytime you like. Enjoy the ease of replacing your power tubes anytime you like, with the very user-friendly power tube bias section. If a tube fails, no problem, the amplifier will kick that tube out of the circuit, and a small LED will light by the tube that fails.Connect your RM100M amp head to any MIDI-capable external processor and program individual effects to each channel. With the MIDI in/thru, simply select your channel and external effect, using the included RF3 MIDI footswitch. The footswitch will select both the RM100 channel and effect you want at the same time. So, if you need the volume and power only a head will offer, choose one that will adapt to your styles. All optional modules include 2 - 12AX7 preamp tubes, 3 band EQ with bright switch, and level control.Choose from the following modules to build your own custom combination of tones: Ultra Module Brown Module Clean Module Dual Treadplate Style Preamp Module SL+ Module Plexi Module JTM Module Top Boost Module Tweed Module Blackface Module DLX Module

I bought this head about a week ago and my first interaction with the head left me disappointed. I used the Rectified (Recto or Treadplate) and was deeply confused as why I couldn’t get a good crunch out of it. I then switched to the Randall-based modules and was blown away. The Ultra in particular, is perfect to achieve the sound of any modern rock band. Just by playing with mids and the convenient 'bright' switch, you can make a very classic Marshall sound or a meaner mesa. The Density and Presence controls make it easy to keep your tone under control even at high volumes. The head is also extremely powerful with the 100 watts of tube power.

In 30 years I've played 'em all. This wins. It has GREAT tone, like a good tube amp should but has the versatility of modern modeling amps...without the fizziness or stale digital sound and feel. There's just nothing better in the price range, even if you picked up all the modules. Compare it to a lot of the one trick ponies out there and you'll agree. I don't need 72 amp models or 80+ effects, just a solid, well built, great sounding amp. This amp is all that and more. I got it (actually, I bought 2) and the digi-toys left the building.
