Reeds Australia Vintage Bb Clarinet ReedsHere are 5 reasons to play Vintage reeds: A richer, more vibrant and woody quality for the type of sound many leading reed players prefer. Greater vibration potential and livelier response. Resistance to warping, splitting, crinkling at the tip, or waterlogging. Meticulous manufacturing techniques maximize the number of good reeds per box. The exceptional quality of the organically grown Australian cane results in reeds that last longer than other brands.

I'm not sure if I got a defective batch of these reeds or if I need to process them in some way before playing, but these reeds do not play as the description says they should. They are about a half size softer than most other reeds of the same number and the sound they produce is the brightest I've heard yet, not dark and rich. Keep in mind I bought strength 3.5. Perhaps the 4 will be different. A plus side is that they are easy to blow through and the sound is clear.
The consistency is ok. So far, 7/10 reeds work fine. One of the three that didn't work too well ended up sounding like a kazoo. If you want a bright sound or want to just try something new, these are for you. If you want something guaranteed to have a dark sound, you may want to hold off.
I'm a music minor from iowa and have not found a reed that I have liked better. The sound quality and tamber of these reeds are great. I tried this reed while studying in college and found that I really couldn't get over the sound and clearness of this reed.
I ordered these along with a number of other brands which I had never tried. The reeds were extremely consistent within the box, and most played with very minor adjustments. Reeds have been long lasting and responsive.
