The fiberskyn3 heads give great projection and have a good lifetime without the need for tuning/detuning your drum each session. They have a good feel, although harder on the hands than natural skins. This model with the crimp lock rim holds up well. The tucked models tend to unravel with tightening and hence need tuning often. The covering of the skin is robust but can be nicked by rings, etc. However some players just peel it off and continue to use the skins - like what people do in Cuba, using x-ray films! Eventually the skin will pull out of the glue in the rim and require replacement. But is common to go a year before that happens. Your mileage will vary. Great product from Remo making it much easier to maintain a drum and to get fantastic sound in live settings.
