NSL Tall Tubanos Feel Strange and Sound Dead

By

Just arrived at school...we don't like them at all. Since they have a rubber head, kids don't like the feel of the drums. Sounds a bit better with the mallets on the med and lg drum. Small drum has no tone at all. The vol control caps are too thick, feel like you're playing on a pillow, but they do work when I place them over our regular djembes. Not good if you want to use these drums in class and in a performance...no volume at all.

Horrible investment

These are horrible drums. I regret getting them now. I was thinking "Oh great, a set of three tubanos for a cheap price! Great for my World Music Drumming class." The students aren't hitting them any harder than they did with my other tubanos and djembes and we've already broken two heads. And now that they are broken, you can't replace them because they are part of the drum. On top of that, even with a "good" working head, the sound is horrible. No ring. The drum doesn't "speak" - just a dull thud. They may be more expensive, but go with the 100 series tunable tubanos. You can change the heads if they break and they sound SO much better. I'm gonna see if I can get them replaced.
