I've been playing a very nice Ren Wei Shi Concert model for more than four years and decided to upgrade to the Artist model. I couldn't be more pleased with the Artist II. The new violin has both a warm, rich tone and a ringing resonance with lots of sympathetic vibrations on open strings. The sound is quite "big" (rather than "loud"), but the instrument also has the sensitivity to play pianissimo with great delicacy and clarity in all positions. Also, not mentioned in the description is the finish. This violin has what I believe is called a semi-antique finish. I think it could probably pass for an antique instrument. Plus, the finish is quite lightly applied which I suspect may be one reason it has such resonance. Switching from my very good student level instrument to this one has really taken my sound to the next level. I may not be playing any better on this instrument, but it certainly sounds better! I love it!
