Finely grained, aged spruce and striking flamed maple back are artfully hand-carved into a viola with remarkable power and resonance. Advanced violists will find that the Ren Wei Shi Artist workshop viola provides a responsiveness and range of tonal colors normally lacking in other comparably priced violas. Beautifully hand-finished with lightly shaded golden-brown varnish...truly in a class by itself.

Comments about Ren Wei Shi Artist Viola:
Ren Wei Shi Artist Viola
Having played the viola for fifty years, five years ago I decided to give it up after losing fine motor control of my right arm due to Parkinson's. That worked for a while, but I was drawn back to the instrument: it was time to buy one and just play for enjoyment.
WWBW had a scratch & dent (a few nicks) Ren Wei Shi Artist Viola at a deep discount, so I ordered it. The viola survived its winter trip: no open seams or damage. The sound post was down but I was able to reset it. The strings and pegs were in good shape. The color is light brown/gold.
The carbon bow was good and stiff but the hair had never been rosined. I expect good performance from it.
The case was good quality and very light. It featured a zippered pocket for music, a string tube, space for four bows, two compartments for accessories, a detachable carry strap, a fabric instrument bag, and a blanket. The space for the body of the instrument was adjustable for length for a snug fit.
The label inside the viola showed it was made in China in 2009. It has an even, big, expansive sound on all strings.
