I am just starting out on flute after many years playing sax and clarinet. I wanted to play baroque flute because I love the sound of the instrument. I saw that wooden baroque flutes are extremely expensive, but this one is well made and much less expensive. I recommend it for anyone who doesn't plan to be a professional ancient instrument performer, but wants the pleasure of playing an old-fashioned instrument.
I bought the black matte traverso, which is tuned at A=440. Granted, this is not a wooden traverso (and it is a lot easier to maintain!), but the sound is really good -- nice and mellow, almost like a "real" traverso, especially in the lower and middle register. The high register can get a bit squeaky and hard to play. Recommended as a starter instrument for those who want to explore the baroque flute, and preferable to some of the really cheap wooden copies that are available. The white one is tuned A=415. The price is hard to beat.
