Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Clarinet:

Honestly tested this H-ligature on about 6 different mouthpieces and numerous reed set ups including both wood reeds of different brands and strengths as well as Legere synthetic reeds. The shape and contact points of the H-ligature as shipped failed to support any reed in a position required to respond properly. I refuse to bend or shape a new ligature product in an attempt to fit it to standard Vandoren mouthpieces. When I used Vandoren and Rovner ligatures with the very same mouthpieces and reeds indicated above, the resulting responses were proper, clear and fully functional.

Takes a little time to get used to doing the reed adjustment backwards. I like it better now.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Clarinet:

thirty years ago, I owned a gold Harrison-Hurtz ligature and absolutely loved it. It was very responsive. Unfortunately, it was misplaced about 2 years ago. After a while, I decided to try the new "H" ligature. I was very disappointed. The response was nothing like I remember. The most disappointing aspect of the ligature was when I was switching my mouthpiece from Bb to A clarinet and the ligature/reed slipped. That had never happened with my old Harrison-Hurtz ligature. I tried "cranking it down," but had the same results.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Clarinet:

The Rico H ligature is fantastic for quick Reed alignment. The ligature itself is very durable, and it looks and sounds fantastic. Besides the ligature, the cap that comes with it provides a form fitting protective barrier that is also aesthetically pleasing.

    Not a Harrison

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Clarinet:

I purchased the gold for myself and a gold and silver for a colleague. Mine is a replacement for my original Harrison H clarinet ligature which just broke after 20 years of use. These new editions are sturdier than the Harrisons, but don't allow the freedom and clarity of the original. I still have an original silver Harrison, and am intending to use my new Gold ligature as a back-up. My original broke just as I was setting up for our concert of Carmina Burana. Always carry extras!

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Clarinet:

I used the Harrison on saxophone for many years. However, its inevitable breakage was my misfortune. Many thanks goes to Rico for bringing this lig back in a stronger, less fragile make, while maintaining the nuances of the original. This ligature helps provide a consistant response throughout all registers, eliminating much of the stuffiness (especially in the throuat tones on clarinet, even with an unfavorable reed) and/or resistance that can be enountered with some ligs. Articulation is even and non resistant all over, and more overtones are present in the sound because MORE OF THE REED IS UNINHIBITED AND FREE TO VIBRATE, while sealing properly on the mouthpiece. This was the case on my set up. I let a another guy try this lig (a doubler to whom clarinet is not so friendly). It immediately helped him with response and uninhibited freedom up high. At this price, you can't afford not to buy one! It's as good as the original Harrison, and it's stronger & less suceptible to breakage than before.
