OVERVIEW

A favorite from the past redesigned for better contact and strength

The H-Ligature and Cap was conceived as a "retro" version of the famous Harrison ligature used by many of the worlds greatest saxophonists. Rico's H-ligature offers the sought-after features of this popular design.
The new H-ligature holds the reed firmly to the table of the mouthpiece assuring better contact and therefore reducing leaks along the siderails. Additional support has been added to the ligature brackets to increase durability.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

Very good ligature in all ways except that it tends to slide around when trying to put the mouthpiece on the cork. However, my mouthpiece is pretty tight so that may have something to do with it. Overall though this is a great ligature that helps achieve a great sound and I highly recommend it.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

Had on of these for a smaller metal tenor mouthpiece but have gone to hard rubber with some new pieces. I like a ligature that does not clamp down on the reed too much or muffle the sound. Once I set this up to the mouthpiece I can usually slide it down over the reed and just snug up the screws a bit. Quick, lets the reed vibrate, looks good, good quality. I like it for my mouthpiece.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

            I bought a Rico Graftonite 5A for a vintage Yamaha YTS 21.

Yamaha offers a comparable price mpce, that gets similar strong reviews. Rico affords both lay and A B C baffle/ chamber options.

I was using my existing Yamaha ligature. It's OK, but the Rico H for hard rubber is the proprietary lig. for this mpce. Beefier, better fit, nicer design.

Works for me, not advanced enough to understand "fussy" -- Half century playing blues harp, I understand embouchure, and this setup works for me.

            Design flawed

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

Plays well BUT...slips off when putting mouthpiece on and off neck. If you push it down far enough onto the piece not to slip the design flaw kicks in. It is clear the parts that attach to the lig that hold the screws will ultimately snap off after being fully tightened over time. Screws buckle if lig not dully closed, which then it slips off. Should have bought the Wanne Enlightened ligature or the FL. Going to see if I can return and trade.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

i use it on my otto link HR 7 and it really helped give the tone a nice warmth to it, while still being bright enough to create that nice edge/buzz in the tone. it is a bit bright for my taste on my classical setup (selmer soloist C*) but i bought it for jazz anyway. similar qualities to the sound of a FL Ultimate, but about half the price! the cap is just superb engineering at work as well.

            Excellent Ligature

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

Rico's H ligature is a thoughtfully updated version of the excellent Harrison product. The 'H' plate which holds the reed in place is now slightly larger than the original as are the brass straps. The new design works great, allowing for a free blowing feeling while holding the reed securely in place. Modestly priced, it easily outperforms ligatures which are much more expensive. In addition, the unique proprietary molded plastic cap is attractive and durable with a distinctive rubber surface. (The original Harrison did not come with a cap so this makes for a welcome accessory.) All in all a wonderful piece of equipment.
