Rico PadGard Clarinet SwabBecause ordinary cloth swabs leave damaging residual moisture on pads, etc., this item was specifically designed to completely remove moisture from instruments.

I have issues with these pad guards. The idea of a swab is to remove moisture from the bore and get it away from pads. Most folks leave this item IN the instrument, which does nothing to remove moisture. The only way I would suggest one of the pad savers is to use it to remove moisture and then take it out of the instrument.
These pad savers are similar to sax and flute guards and help keep clarinet bores moisture free. It works well and mine have lasted for years.
I bought the Rico Padgards for my large bore Leblanc soprano Clarinet. They did not fit in the horn! I used them for a while hoping that they would fit better after a little use. No Luck. They fit so tight that you need something like a pencil etc to push them out of the body. They are too short and too tight to push out with your finger. The caps on the end of each swab come off very easily when you try to grab them. I worry that if left off they would scratch the bore or tone hole.I am back using my on Padsavers.
These are great padsavers. Randomly one day I decided I needed some for my clarinet so I looked around and decided on these. These work exactly how I thought they would work. When my clarinet is being stored these pads are sitting in the bore of my instrument. They keep moisture and dust out of it. I don't get a chance to practice clarinet every day so having these padgards in the bore keep the bore dry. I love these and recommend them to any person looking for a product to keep his/her clarinet safe from moisture and dust while it is in storage.
