THESE ARE THE BEST REEDS FOR MARCHING BAND, because of Florida's heat and humidity, marching alto and bari I used to go through 3 reeds a week these have a powerful sound and last forever, one box=one marching season.

I play in a wide variety of groups that demand baritone saxophone on the gig. While gigging Soprano, Alto, and Tenor, I've found that with doubling on bari sax, these reeds are my saving grace. They play great out of the box and last about 2 months of constant playing (about 3 times a week for 2-3 hours), have great response, and good tone. They don't quite have the tonal center of natural cane, but if you're playing outside or not honking a bari solo on every chart, they're great. Another great thing is that if you've got a more mellow mouthpiece, these reeds will brighten up your sound. All in all, they're the best reeds you can buy if you have to play outdoors, in changing humidity, or need reeds for instruments you only play 5 or 6 times a night.

I have been using the Rico Plasticover baritone saxophone reeds for about three years and am still playing from the original box. The reeds are consistent, do not warp, and give a good sound. I play Bari sax in a big band, and I find that I can pick up the horn after a break and have no problem getting the same sound as when I was warmed up. The low notes speak fine, and I am able to play soft dynamics without a problem. I don't even carry other reeds anymore, as I am able to play the same reed as the previous time I played. The first two reeds lasted about a year each (I play a couple of times a month), and I will continue to use them.
